Sika Rugasol F is a concrete surface retarder, specifically used to create rough finished surfaces, expose aggregates, or provide good bonding for edges, stop joints, and areas where subsequent plastering layers are required.
ADVANTAGES
Used as a curing agent on formwork to create non-aggregate finished surfaces.
Cost-effective and efficient in creating rough adhesive surfaces without the need for chiseling or sandblasting.
Used to create precast panels with a finished surface, showcasing the natural color and roughness of the aggregate. Therefore, the aggregate remains intact and does not break.
APPLICATION
The anti-foaming agent only slows down the final hardening process and does not "prevent" the setting of the cement. Rugasol, when used correctly, will not change the color of the concrete, even when using white cement.
Sika® Rugasol F will not reduce the bond strength between the rebar and the concrete if Sika® Rugasol F is accidentally spilled; just clean it with clean water.
The product acts as a gel-like inhibitor and is applied to the formwork to create finished surfaces with exposed aggregate.
FEATURES
Sika Rugasol F has the following characteristics:
The surface retarder Sika® Rugasol F is used to expose aggregates on Portland cement-based concrete surfaces.
Concrete roughening agent is an economical solution that saves costs while providing high efficiency to create a rough bonding surface without the need for chiseling or sandblasting.
Sika® Rugasol F is applied directly to the formwork for walls, ceilings, and vertical stop joints, as well as similar concrete surfaces. When dry, Sika® Rugasol F forms a thin, long-lasting, and water-soluble film. Avoid letting the product get wet. It can be applied to the formwork before or after installation, while the steel reinforcement is installed as usual.
The Sika® Rugasol F product has the ability to slow down the curing process of the cement layer up to a depth of 6mm (1/4 inch). This depth can vary depending on the thickness of the layer and the time from when the concrete is poured to when it is used, the water content, and the amount of cement used in the mix.
If the curing process of the cement layer is prolonged, the ambient temperature may affect the depth during the process.
APPLICATION
Before using Sika® Rugasol F, the product must be thoroughly stirred and not diluted, and it can be applied to clean formwork.
Apply a thick layer with a brush or roller and let it dry for about 2-4 hours. The formwork surface must be free of grease. The surfaces just coated with Sika® Rugasol F need to be shielded to avoid excessive sunlight.
Dismantling the formwork:
Exposing the aggregate:
The formwork should be removed as soon as possible after pouring the concrete to achieve the best results, 1 day in warm sunny conditions and 2 days in cold weather.
oIn cases where the formwork must be left for a longer period, it is advisable to use 2 or 3 layers of Sika® Rugasol F to ensure sufficient penetration. It is advisable to conduct a test on concrete first to check the effect of Sika® Rugasol F.
Cleaning:
When dismantling the formwork, wet cement may adhere. In the case when the cement is still soft, removing it from the mold will become easier by using a brush or a high-pressure water jet. Ensure to clean immediately after removing the formwork and maintain moisture and regular maintenance. A small test should be conducted before use as the cement composition and specific conditions of each project may vary.
Cleaning construction tools:
Clean the equipment immediately after use with hot water.
